At CLEAR, our mission is:
To implement an effective chiropractic system of scoliosis care to help people worldwide through research and spinal rehabilitation.
CLEAR was founded in 2000 by Dr. Dennis Woggon, a Doctor of Chiropractic with over 40 years of experience in treating spinal disorders. CLEAR is an acronym standing for Chiropractic, Leadership, Educational, Advancement and Research. We strive to achieve our mission by:
We did not set out to work specifically with scoliosis. CLEAR’s original purpose was to advance the science of chiropractic, and to help Doctors of Chiropractic in caring for complex spinal disorders. In the first few years of CLEAR’s existence, we were surprised by the number of people living with scoliosis who came to us for help. As we began to recognize the need for research into new ways of helping people with scoliosis, the focus of the organization shifted. Today, the CLEAR Scoliosis Institute is the only non-profit chiropractic organization devoted to scoliosis treatment and research.
In the coming years, we hope to increase the general awareness of scoliosis, and to educate more people suffering from the effects of scoliosis on their options. We hope to raise support for independent research into new methods of scoliosis treatment, and to share the results with the scientific community and the world.
The CLEAR Scoliosis Institute itself does not provide treatment to people living with scoliosis. Rather, we provide education and training to chiropractors. We have developed a chiropractic treatment protocol specifically for scoliosis, and, through seminars taught at accredited chiropractic universities, we train doctors of chiropractic in how to implement the treatment protocol in their own clinics. The doctors who have completed the certification process are called CLEAR Certified Doctors of Chiropractic.

CLEAR has very high standards for chiropractors working with scoliosis cases, and our Certified Doctors are the only ones allowed to affiliate themselves with CLEAR. If you are aware of a doctor who is claiming to be CLEAR Certified but is not on our list, please contact us at [email protected].
The CLEAR Scoliosis Institute is a not a franchise and does not have direct control over, nor ownership in, individual CLEAR Certified clinics. CLEAR Institute has developed a protocol for helping people with scoliosis, and Doctors of Chiropractic (DC’s) can choose to become certified in this method by meeting certain requirements. Each clinic or facility is responsible for its own day-to-day management, staffing, billing practices, care procedures, and patient recruitment. The CLEAR Scoliosis Institute limits its involvement to ensuring only that:
CLEAR is a registered trademark and cannot be used without written permission from CLEAR. The CLEAR Scoliosis Institute owns all national and international trademarks and rights to the words CLEAR, CLEAR Institute, CLEAR Scoliosis Institute, CLEAR Scoliosis Treatment, CLEAR Scoliosis Center/Clinic, and ‘Mix Fix Set’ (the informal name for the CLEAR Scoliosis Treatment Protocols).
Doctors currently undergoing training or in the process of achieving certification are not allowed to refer to themselves as “undergoing CLEAR certification,” “currently enrolled in CLEAR Scoliosis certification,” or similar verbiage. Only doctors who have achieved CLEAR Certification, and have been granted the formal right by CLEAR to utilize its trademark in a manner approved by the CLEAR Scoliosis Institute, are allowed to use the word CLEAR or any of its derivatives in reference to spinal rehabilitation and scoliosis care.
These rules exist to protect scoliosis patients from doctors making false or misleading claims, and to ensure consistently high standards in chiropractic scoliosis treatment.
If you have questions about the CLEAR trademark, or reason to believe that an individual or business is using the CLEAR trademark inappropriately, please contact the CLEAR Scoliosis Institute at [email protected].
